The Bureau of Youth Services achieves it’s departmental mission by working with community agencies and neighborhood organizations to develop innovative ways to meet human service needs. The Bureau promotes and supports youth development projects and family strengthening services, by providing direct funding for program support, and participating in collaborative planning and funding efforts.

Through local, State and Federal funding such as the City’s Community Development Block Grant (CDBG), Emergency Shelter Grant (ESG), Housing for Persons with Aids (HOPWA), Adolescent Pregnancy Prevention Services (APPS), and NYS 21st Century Community Learning Center, BHS plans, administers and monitors community projects to meet human service needs.

Some of our key programs are Summer of Opportunity, Youth Acadamy Training Program and Volunteer Internship Program. Click here for more information!

RASA provides academic enrichment, recreational, social, artistic and character development activities for students and their families to help them succeed. There are currently 16 RASA sites in schools, with lead agency partners delivering services to approximately 1400 students and 600 adults. By delivering these engaging and enrichment activities in after school settings, we’re able to help students stay connected to school, thereby increasing school attendance rates and improving academic success.
